Kitchener falls to Cambridge in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Cambridge Winter Hawks pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Kitchener Dutchmen on a clutch goal by Mitch Klie.

The win by Cambridge clinched the best of seven series at 4-3.

Klie had two goals to lead the Winter Hawks to victory. Klie found the back of the net 8:45 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Cambridge and again while 1:24 into the fourth to make the score 3-2 Cambridge.

Cambridge's offense rang up 38 shots on Kitchener's net.

Cambridge also got a goal from Christian Barnard as well. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Cody Gratton, Lawrence Pagnan, Anthony Guido, Chris Taylor, and Todd Bannerman, who each chipped in one.

The Dutchmen were led by Keli Grant, who had one goal and one assist. Grant scored 5:17 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Brett Clampitt picked up the assist. Matt Guild also scored for Kitchener. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Logan Schmidt and Clayton Greer, who contributed one each.

The Winter Hawks' Lucas Machalski stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Cambridge incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Marc Williams recorded 35 saves for Kitchener. The Dutchmen incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
