Kitchener falls to Cambridge in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Cambridge Winter Hawks' Mitch Klie scored 17:25 into overtime to beat the Kitchener Dutchmen, 4-3 (OT).

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Kitchener faces elimination next time out.

Cambridge nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Winter Hawks made it 3-1 on a goal by Chris Taylor at 4:41 in the third period. The Dutchmen got to within 3-2 on a power play goal by Brett Clampitt at 11:42 in the third period.

With three goals and two assists between them, Taylor and Klie teamed up to power Cambridge's offense. Taylor had two goals and Klie also added one goal and two assists.

The Winter Hawks forced Kitchener goalie Marc Williams to work between the pipes, taking 59 shots.

Cambridge also got points from Klie, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Cambridge also got a goal from Trevor Hache as well. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Cody Gratton, who had two and Todd Bannerman, who had four.

The Dutchmen's offense rang up 44 shots on Cambridge's net.

Kitchener additionally got points from Clayton Greer, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Matt Guild, Jordan Delaurier, Keli Grant, John Divo, and Chris Eckert, who each chipped in one.

Lucas Machalski recorded 41 saves for the Winter Hawks. Cambridge incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kitchener's Williams stopped 55 shots out of the 59 that he faced. The Dutchmen incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
