Strathroy wins tough contest against Chatham, 3-2

The game between the Strathroy Rockets and the Chatham Maroons was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Strathroy emerged with a 3-2 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Brett Dalton at 19:17 of the third period.

The win gave the Rockets a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Strathroy was led by Dalton, who tallied one goal.

The Rockets' offense rang up 37 shots on Chatham's net.

Strathroy additionally got points from Wes Baker, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Strathroy also got a goal from Matthew Watson as well. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Tyler Duarte, Trevor Dulong, and Kurtis Sander, who contributed one a piece.

The Maroons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Strathroy to score on any of its three power plays. Chatham kept the Rockets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Dalen Kuchmey made 47 saves on 49 shots.

The Maroons were helped by Brennan Feasey, who racked up one goal. Feasey scored 42 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-2. Michael Verboom assisted on the tally. Chatham also got points from Verboom, who also had one goal and one assist.

Strathroy incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Darien Ekblad recorded 34 saves for Chatham. The Maroons incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
