Italiano's big game bests Georgetown in 6-3 St. Michaels win

David Italiano was all over the ice for the St. Michaels Buzzers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in St. Michaels' 6-3 win over the Georgetown Raiders.

Italiano's tallies came at 14:52 into the first period to make the score 3-1 St. Michaels and on the power play 10:06 into the third to make the score 4-3 St. Michaels.

The win gave the Buzzers a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

St. Michaels forced Raiders' netminders to work without much rest, launching 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. Gabe Grunwald made 23 stops and Keegan Wilson made eight. The Buzzers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Georgetown power plays.

St. Michaels also got points from Michael Neville, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Shane Conacher, who also had one goal and one assist, and Matt Galati, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. CJ Shugart also scored for St. Michaels. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Matt Buckles, who had two and Jared Walsh, Ian Edmondson, Jordan Merante, Bron Loiselle, and Cody Doiron, who each chipped in one.

Georgetown forced St. Michaels goalie Adrian Ignagni to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots.

The Raiders were led by Phil Kiss, who tallied one goal and one assist. Kiss scored 7:08 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brendan Woods assisted on the tally. Georgetown also got a goal from Anthony Marra as well. More assists for Georgetown came via Steve Hladin and Liam Clare, who contributed one a piece.

Adrian Ignagni made 51 saves for the Buzzers on 54 shots. St. Michaels incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Georgetown incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
