Cornwall squeaks by Brockville, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Cornwall Colts escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Brockville Braves.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Khalid Alli secured the win for Cornwall with a goal in the third period.

The win by the Colts clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

Cornwall was led by Alli, who registered one goal. Alli scored 5:25 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Cornwall. Jake Bannister picked up the assist.

The Colts' offense rang up 31 shots on Brockville's net. Cornwall's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Braves' power play unit.

Cornwall also got points from Stephen Johnson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cornwall also got a goal from Andrew Ming as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Marly Quince, Billy Ulrick, Brandon Howes, and Kevin Hope, who each chipped in one.

Brockville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

The Braves were helped by Cory Wilson, who racked up one goal. Wilson scored on the power play 4:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brockville. A tripping penalty on Anthony Sanniti had put Brockville on the power play. Chris Roll assisted on the tally. Brockville additionally got points from Ben Blasko, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Brockville came via Zach Todd and Joey House, who contributed one a piece.

The Colts' starting goalie, Jordan Piccolino, made 19 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of James Edwardson, who stopped zero shots. Cornwall incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Andrew Pikul recorded 27 saves for the Braves. Brockville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
