Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as North Star Sirens defeated Brisbane Goannas in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed 16 turns to complete the shootout. Brisbane Goannas' shootout goal was scored by Michelle Clark-Crumpton. North Star Sirens also got a shootout goal from Melissa Rulli.

North Star Sirens' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Brisbane Goannas power plays. North Star Sirens put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 2.7 it averages per game.

North Star Sirens was helped by Sharna Godfrey, who tallied two goals. Godfrey scored the first of her two goals at 3:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Star Sirens. Amelia Matheson provided the assist. Godfrey's next tally made the score 2-1 North Star Sirens with 10:21 left in the first period. Kaylee White also scored for North Star Sirens. Other players who recorded assists for North Star Sirens were Amanda Webber and Rulli, who each chipped in one.

Brisbane Goannas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Brisbane Goannas' offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 3.0 shots per game it averages.

Brisbane Goannas was led by Natasha Farrier, who registered two goals. Farrier scored the first of her two goals at 7:26 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Clark-Crumpton picked up the assist. Farrier's next tally made the score 4-4 with 6:55 left in the third period. Clark-Crumpton provided the assist.
