Hill-Murray's comeback falls short, Edina wins 4-2

The Hill-Murray Pioneers almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Edina Hornets managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end.

Edina led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Hornets' Anthony Walsh's scored at 14:29 in the second period to put Edina up 4-1.

 

Cullen Munson had two goals to lead Edina to victory. Munson found the back of the net 11:56 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Edina and again while 2:11 into the second to make the score 3-1 Edina.

The Hornets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Edina relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Dylan Malmquist, Tyler Nanne and Bo Brauer took 12 of the team's 22 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Edina were Connor Hurley, who had one and Parker Reno, who had two.

Hill-Murray did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Pioneers relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Zach LaValle, Joey Anderson and Willie Brown took 16 of the team's 28 shots.

Hill-Murray was helped by Josh French, who tallied two goals. French scored the first of his two goals at 4:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hill-Murray. LaValle assisted on the tally. French's next tally made the score 4-2 Edina with 4:44 left in the second period. LaValle picked up the assist. More assists for Hill-Murray came via Sam Becker, who had one.

Willie Benjamin rejected 26 shots on goal for the Hornets. Edina incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. John Dugas recorded 18 saves for the Pioneers.
