Hill-Murray boosted by Dugas' play in net, beats Wayzata 2-1Xcel Energy Center Fri, Mar 08, 2013
The Hill-Murray Pioneers relied on the sparkling performance of John Dugas in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Wayzata Trojans.
The Pioneers pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 12 penalty minutes. Hill-Murray was led by Ryan Black, who finished with one goal. Black scored 12:30 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Hill-Murray. Joey Anderson assisted on the tally. Hill-Murray also got a goal from Davis Zarembinski as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hill-Murray were Josh French and Tyler Funk, who each chipped in one. Wayzata's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Hill-Murray power plays. The Trojans relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Jack Sorensen, Jalen Wahl and Maxwell Zimmer took 14 of the team's 26 shots. Wayzata was led by Chase Haller, who scored the team's only goal. Haller scored on the power play 6:44 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Wayzata. The Trojans earned a power play opportunity when Zach Mills was put in the box for slashing. Wahl provided the assist. The Pioneers' Dugas stopped 25 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Aaron Dingman rejected 28 shots on goal for Wayzata. The Trojans incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
