Edina survives Duluth East comeback, wins 3-2Xcel Energy Center Fri, Mar 08, 2013
The Duluth East Greyhounds tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Edina Hornets would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. Edina made the score 3-1 on a goal by Andy Jordahl at 11:38 in the third period, and Duluth East got as close as 3-2 when Meirs Moore scored 15:14 into the third period.
Edina was led by Jordahl, who registered one goal. The Hornets did not rack up many penalties in the contest, racking up only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Edina also got a goal from Miguel Fidler as well. Other players who recorded assists for Edina were Parker Reno and Bo Brauer, who each chipped in one. The Greyhounds' offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put nine shots on net during the game. Duluth East was helped by Alex Toscano, who had one goal. Toscano scored 2:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Duluth East. Jack Forbort assisted on the tally. More assists for Duluth East came via Andrew Kerr, who had one. Willie Benjamin made 19 saves for Edina on 21 shots. The Hornets registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Dylan Parker recorded 22 saves for the Greyhounds. Duluth East incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities.
