Cole Burack made 43 saves to complete the shutout and led the New Hampshire Jr Monarchs to a 2-0 win against Jersey Hitmen. The win gave New Hampshire a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. The Jr Monarchs were led by Nicholas McNally, who finished with one goal. McNally scored 9:37 into the second period to make the score 1-0 New Hampshire. Nate OBrien picked up the assist. New Hampshire put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Jersey Hitmen to score on any of its three power plays. The Jr Monarchs forced Jersey Hitmen goalie Michael OMaley to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. Brent Beaudoin also scored for New Hampshire. More assists for New Hampshire came via Shane Tracy and Daniel Nolte, who each chipped in one. Jersey Hitmen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three New Hampshire power plays. Jersey Hitmen's offense rang up 43 shots on New Hampshire's net. The Jr Monarchs incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. OMaley rejected 45 shots on goal for Jersey Hitmen. Jersey Hitmen ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For Jersey Hitmen, James Martello was ejected from the game. |
