Justin Kapelmaster had a standout game with 37 saves, and the NY AppleCore Minor B beat Jersey Hitmen 2-1.

The win gave NY AppleCore a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

The Minor B were paced by Liam Pues, who registered one goal. Pues scored on the power play 2:38 into the third period to make the score 2-1 NY AppleCore. A high sticking penalty on Justin McKenzie had put NY AppleCore on the power play. Jonas Toupal provided the assist.

Jersey Hitmen was unable to stop the Minor B from sending pucks towards the net, and NY AppleCore eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Nicolas Jasmin also scored for NY AppleCore. More assists for NY AppleCore came via Nolan Pues, who had one and Dominick Sacco, who had two.

Jersey Hitmen forced the Minor B goalie Kapelmaster to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Jersey Hitmen was led by Dylan Stephanik, who scored the team's only goal. Stephanik scored 14:13 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Andrew Callahan picked up the assist.

NY AppleCore incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Jordan Hulahan recorded 35 saves for Jersey Hitmen. Jersey Hitmen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
