Springfield's Torrico deadly on offense in 5-2 win against NY AppleCore

The Springfield Pics relied on the scoring touch of Garrett Torrico, who netted two goals, to beat the NY AppleCore Minor B, 5-2.

Torrico scored at 41 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-2 Springfield and again while 19:06 into the third to make the score 5-2 Springfield.

The win gave Springfield a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

NY AppleCore's power play was ineffective against the Pics' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Springfield additionally got points from Nicholas Sibilia, who also registered one goal and one assist. Springfield also got a goal from Thane Schinabeck as well. Other players who recorded assists for Springfield were Riley Green, who had two and Brandon Korytko and Stefan Koproske, who each chipped in one.

The Minor B excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Springfield was unable to stop NY AppleCore from sending pucks towards the net, and the Minor B eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

NY AppleCore was helped by Jonathan Kaszuba, who had one goal. Kaszuba scored 15:17 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Kevin T Miller assisted on the tally. Nolan Pues also scored for NY AppleCore. In addition, NY AppleCore received assists from Dominick Sacco, Andrew DeAngelis, and Michael Conslato, who contributed one a piece.

The Pics' Ian Milosz stopped 47 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Springfield incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Christoph Mutschin made 24 saves for the Minor B on 29 shots. NY AppleCore incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
