Norwich beats New Hamburg 6-4 as Parsons gets hat trick

Brett Parsons netted a hat trick to lead the Norwich Merchants over the New Hamburg Firebirds, 6-4.

Parsons' first goal came 10:39 into the second period. He then added goals at 45 seconds into the third and at 12:34 into the third.

With the win, Norwich evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

The Merchants forced New Hamburg goalie Eric Peicheff to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Norwich also got points from Drake Morrell, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Norwich also got a goal from Todd Kemp as well. More assists for Norwich came via Dalton Riley, who had two and Jesse Cave, Nick Burdett, Gus Ford, Tom Brady, Braeden Shand, and Brandon Zimmermann, who contributed one a piece.

The Firebirds' offense rang up 31 shots on Norwich's net.

New Hamburg was led by Brandon Yantzi, who racked up one goal and one assist. Yantzi scored on the power play 8:38 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Norwich. The Firebirds had gained a power play chance when Brady was whistled for hooking. Nick Pope provided the assist. New Hamburg additionally got points from Sean Kienapple, who also had one goal and one assist. Sam Murray also scored for New Hamburg. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Matt Yantzi and Eric Fischer, who each chipped in one.

The Merchants' Matt McGonigle stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Norwich incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Eric Peicheff made 29 saves for New Hamburg on 35 shots. The Firebirds incurred 44 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
