Port Hope survives Picton comeback, wins 6-5

The Port Hope Panthers, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Port Hope and clinched a 6-5 victory.

The Panthers led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Port Hope's Ryan Wilkinson's scored on the power play at 4:30 in the second period to put the Panthers up 4-1.

After the loss made the series score 1-3 in the best of seven series, the Picton Pirates face elimination next time out.

Logan Arsenault had two goals to lead Port Hope to victory. Arsenault scored on the power play at 14:16 into the second period to make the score 5-4 Port Hope and again while on the power play 10:24 into the third to make the score 6-5 Port Hope.

Picton fell victim to a deadly the Panthers power play, which ripped the Pirates for four goals.

Port Hope made Picton's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. Andrew Pearson made 21 stops and Adam Wood made 10. The defensemen of the Panthers were also effective in the Pirates' zone, and came away with two goals.

Port Hope also got points from Wilkinson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Nick Weiss, who also registered one goal and two assists. Port Hope also got a goal from Ryan Hickey as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Dalton Lawrence, who had three and Kyle Sullivan, Brad Heykoop, and Calibe Oliver, who each chipped in one.

Picton forced Port Hope's goaltenders to work all game long, ripping 40 shots and forcing 35 saves. Branson Schell made 23 stops and Wayne Fryer made 12.

The Pirates were helped by Tyler Kearns, who had one goal. Kearns scored 10:06 into the second period to make the score 4-4. Jacob Panetta provided the assist. Picton additionally got points from Evan Greer, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Levi George also scored for Picton. More assists for Picton came via Cole Bolton, who had two and Brandon Peever, Jack Davison, and Brian Bunnett, who contributed one a piece.

The Panthers incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Picton incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
