Gibeault's big game bests Kemptville in 9-2 Ottawa win

Thierry Gibeault had two goals and two assists to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 9-2 victory over the Kemptville 73s.

Gibeault found the back of the net 4:31 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Ottawa and again while 16:15 into the second to make the score 5-0 Ottawa.

Ottawa made Kemptville's goalies to work in net, firing 58 shots and forcing 49 saves. Jacob Tugnutt made 39 stops and Billy Cooper made 10. The Senators bested their season scoring average. Ottawa has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

Ottawa additionally got points from Ryan Collins, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, Justin Charbonneau, who also had one goal and one assist, Greg Jansz, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Michael Evelyn, who also registered one goal and one assist. Trevor Packard also scored for Ottawa. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Eric Clitsome, who had three and Cameron Roth, Mike Martin, and Ben Robillard, who each chipped in two.

Kemptville also got a goal from Ben St Marseille as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Shane Hiley, Jonathan Cyr, Cole Allard, and Matt Tugnutt, who contributed one a piece.

The Senators' Charlie Millen stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Ottawa totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. The Senators ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chad Millett was ejected from the game. The 73s totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For Kemptville, Hayden Hanson was ejected from the game.
