North York beats Oakville 7-4 as Kerins gets hat trick

Liam Kerins lifted the North York Rangers to a 7-4 victory with a hat trick against the Oakville Blades.

Kerins' first goal came 2:37 into the second period. He then added goals at 3:00 into the second and at 17:15 into the second.

The win by North York clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

The Rangers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Oakville power plays.

North York additionally got points from Franco Loparco, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Taylor Pryce, who also finished with one goal and one assist. North York also got a goal from Chris Aitcheson as well. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Ryan Kinsella, who had two and Lapierre Charles, Fung Zachary, and Scott Maguire, who contributed one a piece.

Oakville was helped by Patrick Chore, who racked up one goal and one assist. Chore scored short handed 5:53 into the second period to make the score 5-1 North York. An elbowing call on Greg Campbell put the Blades on the penalty kill. Jonah Renouf also scored for Oakville. More assists for Oakville came via Nathan Renouf, who had two and Stefan Leblanc and Rory Bell, who each chipped in one.

North York's Jason Pucciarelli stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Rangers totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-9 on the power play. For North York, Charles was ejected from the game. Oakville's starting goalie, Spencer Bacon, made 10 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Evan Buitenhuis, who stopped seven shots. The Blades ended with 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and two majors. For Oakville, Eric Chore and Luke Laidlaw were ejected from the contest.
