Kitchener hangs on, beats Listowel 1-0

Keli Grant scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Kitchener Dutchmen held off the challenges of the Listowel Cyclones in a tough 1-0 win.

Grant provided Kitchener with the game-winning tally when he scored 17:58 into the the first period. John Divo assisted on the tally.

The win by the Dutchmen clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

Kitchener was boosted by Marc Williams, who turned in a shutout with 37 saves. Williams certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.23 entering the contest.

The Dutchmen were paced by Grant, who racked up one goal.

Kitchener's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Listowel power plays. The Dutchmen kept Listowel's goalie busy throughout the game, and Drew Reinhardt made 40 saves on 41 shots.

More assists for Kitchener came via Jesse Young, who had one.

The Cyclones excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Listowel forced Kitchener goalie Williams to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

The Dutchmen ended with seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major. Kitchener ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Connor Cole(APM) was ejected from the game. The Cyclones incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
