Lavrenov leads Port Colborne over Fort Erie, 6-1

Behind a great game by Dima Lavrenov, who had two goals and one assist, the Port Colborne Pirates defeated the Fort Erie Meteors, 6-1.

Lavrenov scored on the power play at 8:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Colborne and again while on the power play 16:24 into the second to make the score 3-1 Port Colborne.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Fort Erie faces elimination next time out.

Port Colborne was led by goalie Real Cormier, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. Cormier managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.86 prior to the game.

The Meteors' 12 penalties came back to haunt them, as Fort Erie let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Pirates' offense rang up 56 shots on the Meteors' net.

Port Colborne additionally got points from Zack Deconilys, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Charlie Izaguirre, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Port Colborne also got a goal from DYLAN BURDICK as well. In addition, Port Colborne received assists from Michael Sharp, Jordan Warren, and Bryan Komasara, who contributed one a piece and Dayne Phillips, Trevor Smith, and Joe Dagostino, who each chipped in two.

Fort Erie's offense rang up 35 shots on Port Colborne's net. The Meteors had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances.

Fort Erie was led by Nik Passero, who scored the team's only goal. Passero scored on the power play 18:14 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Meteors had gained a power play chance when Warren was whistled for too many men. Andy Sturtz provided the assist.

The Pirates incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. For Port Colborne, Nathan Judd Warren and Warren were ejected from the contest. Wyatt Pickrell made 50 saves for Fort Erie on 56 shots. The Meteors incurred 44 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
