Lavrenov leads Port Colborne over Fort Erie, 6-3

Behind a great game by Dima Lavrenov, who had two goals and two assists, the Port Colborne Pirates defeated the Fort Erie Meteors, 6-3.

Lavrenov scored short handed at 14:12 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Port Colborne and again while 2:29 into the second to make the score 4-0 Port Colborne.

The win by Port Colborne broke a deadlock and gave the Pirates a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Port Colborne pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 50 penalty minutes.

The Pirates forced Meteors' netminders to work in net, taking 35 shots and forcing 29 saves. Wyatt Pickrell made 22 stops and Connor Visca made seven.

Port Colborne also got points from Dayne Phillips, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Port Colborne also got a goal from Trevor Smith as well. In addition, Port Colborne received assists from Nathan Judd Warren, Nick Berst, Real Cormier, and Charlie Izaguirre, who contributed one a piece and John DiLorenzo and Zack Deconilys, who each chipped in two.

Fort Erie made Port Colborne's goaltenders to work without much rest, firing 34 shots and forcing 31 saves. Cormier made 22 stops and Morgan Hudson made nine. Team could not crack the Pirates' penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage.

The Meteors were helped by Mike Boles, who grabbed one goal. Boles scored 19:57 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Port Colborne. Aaron Wanat assisted on the tally. Braeden Kavaravtzis also scored for Fort Erie. More assists for Fort Erie came via Kyle Davis, who had one and Dallas Ingram and Andy Sturtz, who each chipped in two.

Port Colborne registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Pirates ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jordan Warren was ejected from the game. Fort Erie incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
