Leamington holds on for 2-1 win against Sarnia

The Sarnia Legionnaires tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Leamington Flyers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

Leamington took a 2-0 lead during the third period, only to have Sarnia storm back on a Brent Sauve goal 13:07 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The win by the Flyers clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Leamington was led by Alex Seguin, who tallied one goal. Seguin scored 4:36 into the third period to make the score Leamington. Nathan Opblinger provided the assist.

The Flyers' offense rang up 41 shots on the Legionnaires' net. Leamington did not rack up many penalties in the contest, racking up a minimal one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Joe Manchurek also scored for Leamington. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were Jacob McGhee, David Dalby, and Tony Spidalieri, who contributed one a piece.

In addition, Sarnia received assists from Matt Cimetta and Tyler Prong, who each chipped in one.

Austyn Roudebush rejected 22 shots on goal for the Flyers. Leamington registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Sean Parker made 39 saves for Sarnia on 41 shots. The Legionnaires incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
