The Newmarket Hurricanes survived a determined comeback attempt by the Whitby Fury on the way to a 4-3 win. Newmarket made the score 4-1 on a goal by Thomas Beretta at 12:55 in the second period, and Whitby got as close as 4-3 when Steven Deeg scored 13:48 into the third period. With the win, the Hurricanes evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown. In the losing effort, the Fury were paced by Deeg, who racked up two goals. Deeg scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:38 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Newmarket. Whitby earned a power play opportunity when Ian Farrell was put in the box for boarding. Greg Milner assisted on the tally. Deeg's next tally on the power play made the score Newmarket with 6:12 left in the third period. The Fury had gotten the advantage when Newmarket's Alex Bontje was sent off for high sticking.
