St. Michaels' comeback falls short, Toronto wins 4-2

The Toronto Junior Canadiens came close to giving away a four-goal lead to the St. Michaels Buzzers, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Toronto led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Junior Canadiens' Danny Liscio's scored at 6:54 in the second period to put Toronto up 4-0.

The win moved the Junior Canadiens to down 2-1 in the best of seven series.

Toronto got the win behind a great game by Joseph Santino, who had one goal and two assists. Santino scored 1:10 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Toronto. Liscio assisted on the tally.

St. Michaels' power play was ineffective against the Junior Canadiens' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Toronto forced Buzzers' goalies to work in net, racking up 40 shots and forcing 36 saves. Adrian Ignagni made 19 stops and George Argiropoulos made 17.

Toronto also got points from Liscio, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Nicholas Jarzabek also scored for Toronto. More assists for Toronto came via Daniel Lombardi, who had two and Derek Perl, Adam Logozzo, and Robert Cammalleri, who contributed one a piece.

The Buzzers made the Junior Canadiens' netminders to work without much rest, ripping 42 shots and forcing 40 saves. Denny Dubblestyne made 26 stops and Nathan Colitto made 14. St. Michaels put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Toronto to score on any of its four power plays.

The Buzzers were led by Shane Conacher, who racked up one goal. Conacher scored 17:31 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Toronto. Troy Josephs picked up the assist. St. Michaels also got a goal from Patrick McCarron as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Jake Evans and Matt Buckles, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Canadiens incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. St. Michaels incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Buzzers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and McCarron was ejected from the game.
