Lovaas' big game bests Mound Westonka in 5-2 The Blake School win

Alex Lovaas was all over the ice for the The Blake School Bears, as he tallied two goals and one assist in The Blake School's 5-2 win over the Mound Westonka White Hawks.

Lovaas' tallies came at 12:26 into the third period to make the score 4-2 The Blake School and 14:56 into the third to make the score 5-2 The Blake School.

The Bears pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 12 penalty minutes.

The Blake School put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mound Westonka to score on any of its six power plays. The Bears relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Lovaas, Dani Cameranesi and Maddy Hall took 16 of the team's 30 shots. The defensemen of The Blake School were also effective in the White Hawks' zone, and came away with two goals.

The Blake School additionally got points from Ali Ahn, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Karlie Lund, who also had one goal and one assist. The Blake School also got a goal from Carly Bullock as well.

Mound Westonka found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against the Bears' defense.

The White Hawks were helped by Abby Brustad, who racked up one goal. Brustad scored 5:16 into the second period to make the score 3-1 The Blake School. Liz Schepers also scored for Mound Westonka. In addition, Mound Westonka received assists from Hailey Sterne, who had one.

Tori Johnson made 12 saves for The Blake School on 14 shots. The Bears registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Emma Polusny recorded 25 saves for Mound Westonka. The White Hawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
