Little Falls survives Alexandria comeback, wins 3-2

The Alexandria Cardinals tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Little Falls Flyers held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Ben Newman put Little Falls up 3-1 in the second period, but Alexandria pulled to within one on Kevin Finley's tally 8:04 into the third period.

The win gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Austin Fenske had a great game for Little Falls, netting two goals. Fenske found the back of the net 5:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 13 seconds into the second to make the score 2-1 Little Falls.

The Flyers forced the Cardinals goalie Ben Allen to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.

Little Falls additionally got points from Newman, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Little Falls were Michael Stumpf, Austin Bjorge, Luke Majerle, and Thomas Miller, who each chipped in one.

Jack Wensman also scored for Alexandria. More assists for Alexandria came via Christian Canavati, who had one.

Stumpf recorded 24 saves for Little Falls. The Flyers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Alexandria's Allen stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced. The Cardinals incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Alexandria, Logan Hochsprung was ejected from the game.
