Thomspon nets hat trick, leads Duluth Denfeld to 4-0 win over International Falls

The International Falls Broncos could not stop the Duluth Denfeld Hunters' Alex Thomspon, who tallied a hat trick in a 4-0 win.

Thomspon's first goal came 8:08 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:22 into the second and at 3:17 into the third.

The win gave Duluth Denfeld a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

The Hunters were boosted by Zach Thompson, who turned in a shutout with 32 saves.

Duluth Denfeld put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow International Falls to score on any of its three power plays. The Hunters kept the Broncos' goalie busy throughout the game, and Wesley Gunnerson made 34 saves on 38 shots.

Duluth Denfeld additionally got points from Levi Talarico, who also racked up one goal and two assists. In addition, Duluth Denfeld received assists from Alex Cowan and Myles Leonzal, who contributed one a piece.

Duluth Denfeld was unable to stop International Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Broncos eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Hunters incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. International Falls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
