Crookston rolls over Kittson Central, 6-2Crookston Civic Arena Thu, Feb 21, 2013 The Crookston Pirates were firing on all cylinders against the Kittson Central Wolfpack, and when the final buzzer sounded Pirates emerged with a 6-2 win. The win gave Crookston a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. The Pirates were sparked by Ryan Edevold, who had one goal and one assist. Edevold scored 13:38 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Crookston. Brady Heppner picked up the assist. Crookston excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Pirates forced Kittson Central goalie Tucker Cosley to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Crookston also got points from Connor Morgan, who also had one goal and one assist and Heppner, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Crookston included Ethan Mercil, who had one and Dylan Klatt, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Crookston were Kyle Proulx, Chandler St. Michel, Cameron Leas, Doug Larson, and Curtis Regan, who each chipped in one. The Wolfpack were led by Carson Thorsteinson, who tallied one goal and one assist. Thorsteinson scored 7:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nick Kasprowicz assisted on the tally. Kittson Central also got a goal from Joey Pastir as well. In addition, Kittson Central received assists from Zach Gatheridge and Anders Lindegard, who contributed one a piece. Crookston's Parker Epema stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Pirates incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Cosley rejected 37 shots on goal for Kittson Central.
