Edina hangs on, beats Burnsville 3-2

Dan Hinueber gave the Edina Hornets the lead in the first period, and the Burnsville Blaze was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 3-2.

Hinueber provided Edina with the game-winning tally when he scored 13:32 into the the first period.

The win gave the Hornets a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

In the losing effort, Burnsville was led by Tyler Sheehy, who registered two goals. Sheehy scored the first of his two goals at 2:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Burnsville. Cole Borchardt picked up the assist. Sheehy's next tally made the score 3-2 Edina with 6:25 left in the second period.

Edina was led by Cullen Munson, who had one goal. Munson scored 11:14 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Edina. Bo Brauer assisted on the tally.

Edina also got a goal from Andy Jordahl as well. Other players who recorded assists for Edina were Parker Reno and Dylan Malmquist, who contributed one a piece.

The Blaze did not rack up many penalties in the contest, finishing with just one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

In addition, Burnsville received assists from Brock Boesser, who had one.

Willie Benjamin recorded 24 saves for the Hornets. Edina incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Burnsville's Chris Mallon stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Blaze registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
