Edina holds on for 5-4 win against Bloomington Jefferson

The Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Edina Hornets held on for a 5-4 victory.

Edina made the score 5-2 on a goal by Miguel Fidler at 4:34 in the third period, and Bloomington Jefferson got as close as 5-4 when Jono Lindquist scored 16:11 into the third period.

The win gave the Hornets a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Andy Jordahl had two goals to lead Edina to victory. Jordahl scored at 14:23 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Edina and again while 4:20 into the second to make the score 3-1 Edina.

The Hornets' offense rang up 33 shots on the Jaguars' net.

Edina additionally got points from Matt Nelson, who also had one goal and one assist. Edina also got a goal from Anthony Walsh as well. In addition, Edina received assists from Cullen Munson and Bo Brauer, who contributed one a piece and Connor Hurley, Dylan Malmquist, and Tyler Nanne, who each chipped in two.

Charlie Bach also scored for Bloomington Jefferson. More assists for Bloomington Jefferson came via Tyler Johnson, who had two and Ryan Freese, Johnny Panvica, Zac Beek, Jack Graves, and Collin Hernon, who contributed one a piece.

Edina's Willie Benjamin stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Hornets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Grant Martens rejected 28 shots on goal for Bloomington Jefferson. The Jaguars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
