Stoffel lifts Park of Cottage Grove over Woodbury, 6-2Cottage Grove Ice Arena Tue, Feb 19, 2013 The Park of Cottage Grove Wolfpack relied on the scoring touch of Eric Stoffel, who netted two goals, to beat the Woodbury Royals, 6-2. Stoffel found the back of the net on the power play 5:15 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Park of Cottage Grove and again while 16:29 into the second to make the score 6-2 Park of Cottage Grove.The win gave Park of Cottage Grove a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. The Wolfpack put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Woodbury to score on any of its three power plays. Park of Cottage Grove forced the Royals goalie Austen Macalus to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Park of Cottage Grove also got points from Nicholas Moser, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Park of Cottage Grove also had goals scored by Jacob Garr, who had one and Cody Newton, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Park of Cottage Grove were Christopher Peterson, Russel Damsgard, and Alex Kielsa, who each chipped in one and Andrew Peterson and Braeden Cordts, who contributed two a piece. Woodbury was helped by Ford Pendleton, who registered one goal. Pendleton scored 2:34 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Park of Cottage Grove. Ryan Winter picked up the assist. Woodbury additionally got points from Jordan Graham, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Woodbury received assists from Alec Albright and Dan Armstrong, who each chipped in one. Matthew Palmquist rejected 27 shots on goal for the Wolfpack. Park of Cottage Grove incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Macalus recorded 29 saves for the Royals. Woodbury incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
