Aaron Kasinak gave the Stillwater Ponies a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Mounds View Mustangs when he scored 7:46 into the extra period.

The win gave Stillwater a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Although the Ponies was up by as many as two goals in the third period, Mounds View kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Mustangs pulled to within 2-1 on a goal by Tucker Gran at 15:52 in the third period.

Stillwater was led by Kasinak, who tallied one goal.

Devin Cates also scored for Stillwater. More assists for Stillwater came via Brandon Jungman, Peyton Gosso, Mitch Reinke, and Blake Kohanek, who contributed one a piece.

Mounds View's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Stillwater power plays.

The Mustangs were helped by Darian Romanko, who registered one goal. Romanko scored 16:34 into the third period to make the score 2-2. In addition, Mounds View received assists from Matt Hunt, who had one.

The Ponies' Colton Anderson stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Stillwater incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brandon Smith rejected 21 shots on goal for Mounds View. The Mustangs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
