Hill-Murray uses fast start to beat St. Paul Como Park, 12-1

The Hill-Murray Pioneers opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 12-1 over the St. Paul Como Park Cougars.

The win gave Hill-Murray a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Josh French had a great game for the Pioneers, netting two goals. French found the back of the net 1:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hill-Murray and again while 11:45 into the third to make the score 12-1 Hill-Murray.

Hill-Murray's offense rang up 78 shots on St. Paul Como Park's net.

Hill-Murray also got points from Zach Mills, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Colten Greeder, who also registered one goal and one assist, Zach LaValle, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Mitch Slattery, who also had one goal and two assists. Hill-Murray also had goals scored by Davis Zarembinski, who had two and Joey Anderson, Curt LaChappelle, Matt Littler, and Sam Becker, who scored one goal each. In addition, Hill-Murray received assists from Logan Sharp, who had one, Willie Brown, who had three, and Dan Dolan and Tyler Funk, who each chipped in two.

The Cougars did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting eight shots on net to force seven saves.

The Pioneers' John Dugas stopped seven shots out of the eight that he faced. Hill-Murray incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Ernie Mantel made 66 saves for St. Paul Como Park on 78 shots. The Cougars incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
