Moorhead rolls over Bemidji, 5-1
The Moorhead Spuds were firing on all cylinders against the Bemidji Lumberjacks, and when the final buzzer sounded Spuds emerged with a 5-1 win.
The win gave Moorhead a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.
Moorhead's offense rang up 37 shots on Bemidji's net.
Moorhead also got points from Tony Uglem, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Moorhead also got a goal from Austin Skjefte as well. In addition, Moorhead received assists from Alex Mehnert, who had two and Z Holdgrewe, Leif Johnson, and Jayden Masseth, who each chipped in one.
The Lumberjacks were led by Matt Serratore, who scored the team's only goal. Serratore scored on the power play 13:43 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Moorhead. Bemidji had gotten the advantage when the Spuds' Uglem was sent off for cross checking. Micheal Forseth picked up the assist.
Jacob Dittmer made 17 saves for Moorhead on 18 shots. The Spuds incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Gabe Heifort rejected 32 shots on goal for the Lumberjacks. Bemidji incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
