Huge game by Jesse boosts Lakefield over Clarington, 5-0

Behind a great game by Gregory Jesse, who had one goal and four assists, the Lakefield Chiefs defeated the Clarington Eagles, 5-0.

Jesse beat Anthony DUrso with a shot 1:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield. Keenan Runnalis provided the assist. Jesse dished an assist on Jordan Walsh's goal that made the score 2-0 Lakefield at 9:14 into the first period. He then added assists on Matt Perras's goal at 5:15 into the second, on Derek Manley's goal at 16:26 into the second, and on Eric Shewell's goal at 18:30 into the second.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Clarington faces elimination next time out.

Lakefield made the Eagles' goaltenders to work all game long, getting 35 shots and forcing 30 saves. DUrso made 19 stops and Brandon Green made 11. The Chiefs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Clarington power plays.

Lakefield also got points from Walsh, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Manley, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Brodie Harrison and Ryan Anderson, who contributed one a piece.

Zach Wainman recorded 21 saves for Lakefield. The Chiefs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Clarington incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
