Alliston wins tough contest against Penetang, 6-4

The Alliston Hornets gutted out a close 6-4 win against the Penetang Kings.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Joe Cochrane at 14:48 of the third period.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Penetang faces elimination next time out.

Mike Campeau was all over the ice for Alliston, as he tallied two goals in the win. Campeau's tallies came on the power play at 11:01 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Alliston and 19:12 into the third to make the score 6-4 Alliston.

The Hornets stifled the Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Alliston forced Penetang goalie Adam Redgate to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Alliston additionally got points from Cole Parker, who also registered one goal and two assists, Randy Cox, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and David Leblanc, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Alliston came via Dakota Brooks and Ashton Duthie, who each chipped in one.

The Kings were led by Brandon Frandsen, who tallied one goal and two assists. Frandsen scored short handed 4:27 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Alliston. Penetang played down a man on Nate King's interference. Matt Fischer assisted on the tally. Dan Hogan also scored for Penetang. In addition, Penetang received assists from Graham Haley APM, Matt Meher, Jesse Moreau, and Craig Robinson, who contributed one a piece.

The Hornets' Tyler Brindle stopped 22 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Alliston incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Redgate rejected 31 shots on goal for the Kings. Penetang incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
