Huge game by Babkirk boosts Wheatley over Belle River, 4-1

The Wheatley Sharks' Riley Babkirk had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 4-1 win over the Belle River Canadiens.

Babkirk scored 19:04 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Wheatley. Sebastian Kanally assisted on the tally. Babkirk dished an assist on Kyle Quick's goal that made the score 1-0 Wheatley at 4:31 into the first period. He then added assists on Kurtis Ouellette's goal at 11:22 into the first and on Quick's goal at 19:30 into the third.

Wheatley evened the best of seven series at 3-3 and forced a deciding game seven.

The Sharks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Belle River power plays.

Wheatley also got points from Quick, who also finished with two goals and one assist. More assists for Wheatley came via Brett Babkirk, who had two.

Belle River was led by James Shelton, who scored the team's only goal. Shelton scored 7:54 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Richard Dunning picked up the assist.

Marc Tremblay made 22 saves for Wheatley on 23 shots. The Sharks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Canadiens' Zakk Olvin stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Belle River incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Canadiens ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brenden Crundwell was ejected from the game.
