Schell stymies Campbellford, Port Hope wins 4-1

The Port Hope Panthers relied on the sparkling performance of Branson Schell in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Campbellford Rebels.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Campbellford faces elimination next time out.

The Rebels' power play was ineffective against Port Hope's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Panthers were led by Nick Weiss, who tallied one goal. Weiss scored 3:37 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Port Hope. Dan Lagrois picked up the assist.

Port Hope put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Campbellford to score on any of its seven power plays. The Rebels were unable to stop the Panthers from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Hope eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Port Hope additionally got points from Connor Lowry, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Keifer Macinnis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Port Hope also got a goal from Brad Heykoop as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Ryan Hickey, who had two and Dalton Lawrence and Josh Fulford, who contributed one a piece.

Campbellford forced the Panthers goalie Schell to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

The Rebels were led by Jon Samis, who scored the team's only goal. Samis scored 18:07 into the second period to make the score 1-1.

Schell rejected 32 shots on goal for Port Hope. The Panthers incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Port Hope ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Wilkinson was ejected from the game. Campbellford's Cole Mahoney stopped 33 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Rebels incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
