Campbellford outlasts Port Hope, 4-2

The Campbellford Rebels and the Port Hope Panthers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Campbellford made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Ryan Crowley's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

With the win, the Rebels evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Campbellford was paced by Crowley, who registered one goal and one assist. Crowley scored 8:40 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Campbellford. Nick Orton assisted on the tally.

The Rebels excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Campbellford also got points from Dylan Baxter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Campbellford also got a goal from Steven Clarke as well. More assists for Campbellford came via Josh Adams, Andrew Revell, and Hunter Fargey, who contributed one a piece.

Port Hope stifled Campbellford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Panthers' offense rang up 39 shots on the Rebels' net.

Port Hope was helped by Brad Heykoop, who tallied one goal. Heykoop scored 11:24 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Jacob Spicer picked up the assist. Nick Clark also scored for Port Hope.

Cole Mahoney recorded 37 saves for Campbellford. The Rebels incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Campbellford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitch Burkitt was ejected from the game. Branson Schell made 25 saves for the Panthers on 28 shots. Port Hope incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
