Midland beats Stayner 3-2 after comeback scare

The Stayner Siskins tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Midland Flyers held on for a 3-2 victory.

Midland took a 3-0 lead during the second period, only to have Stayner storm back on a James Mense-Dietrich goal 19:30 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The win by the Flyers clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Midland was led by Cody Beasley, who racked up three goals. Other players who recorded assists for Midland were Jason Leigh, who had one and Zach Leduc and Tyson Clark, who contributed two a piece.

The Siskins were ineffective while on the power play, as they were held to one goal off of 10 man advantages.

Stayner also got a goal from Mike Mullay as well. More assists for Stayner came via Nick Izgerean, Mac Flewelling, and Daniel Latour, who each chipped in one.

Marco Colangelo rejected 24 shots on goal for the Flyers. Midland incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Taylor Trace recorded 19 saves for Stayner. The Siskins incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
