McQuade's hat trick boosts Grimsby over Dunnville, 10-2

ZaK McQuade lifted the Grimsby Peach Kings to a 10-2 victory with a hat trick against the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats.

McQuade notched his first tally 10:10 into the second period. He then added goals at 14:23 into the second and at 6:48 into the third.

After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Dunnville faces elimination next time out.

The Jr. Mudcats' 17 penalties came back to haunt them, as Dunnville let up seven goals while on the penalty kill.

Grimsby made the Jr. Mudcats' goaltenders to work without much rest, finishing with 45 shots and forcing 35 saves. Josh Rosettani made 30 stops and Dusytn Baker made five.

Grimsby additionally got points from Daulton Procyshn, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Grimsby also had goals scored by Daniel Paonessa, who had one, Mathew Paonessa, who had two, and Colin Wierts, who had three. More assists for Grimsby came via Colin Isnor, who had five and Adam Burt, Anthony Pullia, Richard Recchia, Andrew Kolodzey, William Marlow, and Curtis Jacques, who contributed one a piece.

Dunnville was helped by Tyler Springer, who finished with one goal. Springer scored on the power play 9:07 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Jr. Mudcats had taken the advantage when the Peach Kings' Recchia got sent off for interference. Joel Vanvliet provided the assist. Ryan Pilon also scored for Dunnville. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Mack Steele, who had two.

Jeremy Currie recorded 16 saves for Grimsby. The Peach Kings ended with 49 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and one major. Grimsby ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jacques was ejected from the game. Dunnville totaled 107 minutes in penalty time with 16 minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For the Jr. Mudcats, Hayden Molen, Vanvliet, and Steele were ejected from the contest.
