Kincardine survives Mitchell comeback, wins 6-4

The Mitchell Hawks almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Kincardine Bulldogs managed to pull out a 6-4 win in the end.

Kincardine led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Bulldogs' Gerritt Satosek's scored at 19:11 in the second period to put Kincardine up 5-2.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Mitchell faces elimination next time out.

The Bulldogs kept the Hawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joe Metzger made 30 saves on 36 shots. Kincardine struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Mitchell to score two power play goals on three chances.

The Bulldogs were helped by Joel Alton, who tallied two goals. Alton scored the first of his two goals at 8:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kincardine. Tanner Simpson picked up the assist. Alton's next tally made the score 2-1 Kincardine with 3:34 left in the first period. Simpson provided the assist. Kincardine additionally got points from Simpson, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Mike Sharpe also scored for Kincardine. In addition, Kincardine received assists from Adam Hughes, who had two and Garrett Simmons, Jamie Miller, and Cody Britton, who contributed one a piece.

Kincardine was unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Mitchell eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

The Hawks were helped by Jerry Ennet, who grabbed two goals. Ennet scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A roughing after whistle penalty on Justin Ainslie had put Mitchell on the power play. Ryan Sykes picked up the assist. Ennet's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 Kincardine with 13:22 left in the third period. Tyler Tolton provided the assist. Mitchell also got points from Tolton, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Jade Maxwell, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Mitchell were Brent Rae, who had two and Jalen Aitcheson, Luke Salter, and Nathan Templeman, who each chipped in one.

The Bulldogs' Gatlin Burt stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Kincardine incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Hawks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
