Stratford rips Guelph, 8-3

The Stratford Cullitons had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over the Guelph Hurricanes.

Stratford got the win behind a great game by Trevor MacDonald, who had one goal and three assists. MacDonald scored 13:18 into the third period to make the score 7-2 Stratford. Jake Ryan provided the assist.

The Cullitons' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Guelph power plays. Stratford kept Guelph's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jason DaSilva made 41 saves on 49 shots. The Cullitons surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Stratford has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Stratford also got points from Ryan Watson, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Jordan Currie, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Andrew Barton, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Stratford also had goals scored by Jared Culliton, who had two and Jonathan Langford and Josh Miller, who each put in one. In addition, Stratford received assists from Dylan Wettlaufer, who had three and Mitch Brooks and Brett Heaman, who each chipped in one.

The Hurricanes were led by Michael Courvoisier, who finished with one goal and one assist. Courvoisier scored 1:40 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Stratford. Bradley Yowart picked up the assist. Guelph also got a goal from Ben Rolefson as well. More assists for Guelph came via Nico Giannantonio, Steven Domenichini, and Ian Chan, who contributed one a piece.

Nick Caldwell made 24 saves for the Cullitons on 27 shots. Stratford totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. For the Cullitons, Ryker Killins was ejected from the game. Guelph ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Hurricanes ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Yowart was ejected from the game.
