Winona falls to Rochester Century in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Rochester Century Panthers' Alex Ney scored 4:09 into overtime to beat the Winona Winhawks, 6-5 (OT).

Winona could not complete its climb out of a four-goal hole. Rochester Century made it 4-0 on a power play goal by Riese Zmolek at 4:28 in the second period. The Winhawks got to within 5-4 on a goal by Jacob Kelly at 12:09 in the third period.

The Panthers got the win behind a great game by Zmolek, who had four goals and one assist. Zmolek got on the scoresheet 4:55 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:23 into the second and at 2:15 into the third.

Rochester Century kept Winona's goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Schoh made 32 saves on 38 shots. The Panthers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Rochester Century averages 2.0 goals per game. The defensemen of the Panthers were also effective in the Winhawks' zone, and came away with five goals.

Rochester Century additionally got points from Ney, who also had one goal and one assist. Ryan Sherden also scored for Rochester Century. More assists for Rochester Century came via Connor Davies, who had two and Jacob Roth, Andrew Boysen, and Patrick Bower, who contributed one a piece.

Winona's offense rang up 48 shots on Rochester Century's net. The Winhawks bested their season scoring average. Winona has scored at the pace of 2.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

The Winhawks were led by Michael Lubahn, who registered one goal and two assists. Lubahn scored 5:20 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Rochester Century. Winona also got a goal from Alex Johnson as well. In addition, Winona received assists from Cal Thompson, who had one and Nick Rowe, who had two.

The Panthers' Eric Rohleder stopped 43 shots out of the 48 that he faced. Rochester Century ended with no penalties and went 1-for-0 on the power play. Winona avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of zero power plays.
