Little Britain blows out Port Perry, 4-1

The Little Britain Merchants had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Port Perry Mojacks.

After the loss made the series score 1-2 in the best of five series, Port Perry faces elimination next time out.

Little Britain got the win on the strength of a great game by Mitch Berzins, who had one goal and two assists. Berzins scored 19:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Little Britain. Kurtis Moore provided the assist.

The Merchants excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Little Britain additionally got points from Moore, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Cam Palmer also scored for Little Britain. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Mark Vasey and Greg ONeil, who contributed one a piece.

The Mojacks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Little Britain to score on any of its three power plays.

Port Perry was led by Lee Taylor, who scored the team's only goal. Taylor scored 10:05 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Schweda picked up the assist.

The Merchants' Neil Pittock stopped 29 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Little Britain incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Mojacks' starting goalie, Drew Siydock, made 10 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Jeff Julien, who stopped eight shots. Port Perry incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
