Clarington boosted by DUrso's play in net, beats Georgina 5-1Garnet B. Rickard Rec Complex Wed, Feb 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Anthony DUrso had a standout game with 34 saves, and the Clarington Eagles beat the Georgina Ice 5-1. With the win, Clarington evened the series at 1-1 in the best of five showdown. Craig Crowther had two goals to lead the Eagles to victory. Crowther scored at 16:12 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Clarington and again while on the power play 17:27 into the first to make the score 3-0 Clarington. Georgina's power play was ineffective against Clarington's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Ice were unable to stop the Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and Clarington eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Clarington also got a goal from Brent Hambly as well. Other players who recorded assists for Clarington were Luke Garneau, who had three and Jake Choiniere, Collin McGillis, Brock Ackerman, Blane Gaudon, and Rory Craddock, who contributed one a piece. Georgina's offense rang up 35 shots on the Eagles' net. Clarington incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with 15 minors. Jake Francis made 33 saves for the Ice on 38 shots. Georgina incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
