Dundas boosted by Sinclair's play in net, beats Chippawa 2-1Gale Centre Thu, Feb 07, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Mark Sinclair helped the Dundas Blues defeat the Chippawa Riverhawks, 2-1. After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Chippawa faces elimination next time out. Dundas pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes. The Blues were led by Derek Searle, who grabbed one goal. Searle scored on the power play 14:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dundas. Dundas had taken the advantage when the Riverhawks' Curtis Sauve got sent off for hooking. Matt Charbonneau picked up the assist. The Blues put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Chippawa to score on any of its six power plays. The Riverhawks were unable to stop Dundas from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blues eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Dundas additionally got points from Charbonneau, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Dundas were Nick McMullen, Josh Wiley, and Brett Dell, who contributed one a piece. Chippawa forced Dundas goalie Sinclair to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. In addition, Chippawa received assists from Tyler Stranges and Michael Rogers, who each chipped in one. Sinclair recorded 36 saves for the Blues. Dundas registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Colin Dunne made 41 saves for the Riverhawks on 43 shots. Chippawa incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. |
