Erin beats Penetang 5-2 as Crossey gets hat trick

Chris Crossey lifted the Erin Shamrocks to a 5-2 victory with a hat trick against the Penetang Kings.

Crossey got on the scoresheet 1:41 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:01 into the first and at 10:16 into the third.

The win moved Erin to down 2-1 in the best of seven series.

Penetang's power play was ineffective against the Shamrocks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:02 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Erin's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Penetang power plays.

Erin additionally got points from Chris Poletek, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Erin also got a goal from Kyle Bennett as well. Other players who recorded assists for Erin were Oran Ferguson, who had three and Mackenzie Sealy, Kevin Gergely, and Tyler Shippel, who each chipped in one.

The Kings stifled the Shamrocks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Penetang kept Erin's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tom Denstedt made 31 saves on 33 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Shamrocks totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. For Erin, Jordan Brown was ejected from the game. Adam Redgate made 19 saves for the Kings on 24 shots. Penetang ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. The Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nate King was ejected from the game.
