St. Louis Selects 18U holds on for 4-3 win against Pursuit of Excellence 18U

St. Louis Selects 18U survived a determined comeback attempt by Pursuit of Excellence 18U on the way to a 4-3 win.

St. Louis Selects 18U took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Pursuit of Excellence 18U storm back on a Brodie Saywell goal 12:53 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Pursuit of Excellence 18U's power play was ineffective against St. Louis Selects 18U's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Pursuit of Excellence 18U was unable to stop St. Louis Selects 18U from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Louis Selects 18U eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. St. Louis Selects 18U found itself short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

St. Louis Selects 18U was led by Alex Klaesner, who registered one goal and one assist. Klaesner scored 15:43 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Louis Selects 18U. Michael Howard assisted on the tally. Mitchell Miller also scored for St. Louis Selects 18U.
