Courtnall lifts Omaha AAA 16U over San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U, 6-3

Lawton Courtnall was all over the ice for Omaha AAA 16U, as he tallied two goals in Omaha AAA 16U's 6-3 win over San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U.

Courtnall's tallies came short handed at 14 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-2 Omaha AAA 16U and 2:52 into the third to make the score 5-2 Omaha AAA 16U.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U's power play was ineffective against Omaha AAA 16U's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Omaha AAA 16U made San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U's goaltenders to work between the pipes, getting 35 shots and forcing 29 saves. Geoffrey Grimm made 19 stops and Jake Blazier made 10. Omaha AAA 16U's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in four goals.

Omaha AAA 16U also got points from Christian Evers, who also finished with two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Omaha AAA 16U also got a goal from Rhodes Dolan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Omaha AAA 16U were Mac McFarland and Mark Whitney, who contributed one a piece and Patrick Grasso, Ethan Price, and Ethen Frank, who each chipped in two.

San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U was helped by Christopher Milner, who had one goal. Milner scored 10:09 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Omaha AAA 16U. Carson Kelley picked up the assist. San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U additionally got points from Jack Cleaver, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Jackson DeWitt also scored for San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U. In addition, San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U received assists from Austin Elchinoff, who had one.

Sean Wendlandt made 27 saves for Omaha AAA 16U on 30 shots. Omaha AAA 16U totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 3-for-8 on the power play. Omaha AAA 16U ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tarek Baker was ejected from the game. San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U ended with 45 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For San Jose Jr. Sharks 16U, Kelley was ejected from the game.
