Pikes Peak Miners 16U uses shootout to best Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 16U, 5-4

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Pikes Peak Miners 16U defeated Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 16U in a shootout 5-4.

The two teams needed 10 turns to complete the shootout. Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 16U got a shootout goal from Jason Fritsche. In addition to the clincher, Pikes Peak Miners 16U got a shootout goal from J.P. Nolette.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Pikes Peak Miners 16U trailed 4-1 after a goal by Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 16U's Spencer Martineau at 14:25 in the second period. Pikes Peak Miners 16U tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Brandon Tucker at 13:26 in the third period.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks 16U to score on any of its four power plays.
