Huge game by Gums boosts Pikes Peak Miners 16U over Detroit Falcons 16U, 4-0

Christian Gums had two goals and one assist to lead Pikes Peak Miners 16U to a 4-0 victory over Detroit Falcons 16U.

Gums scored at 1:28 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Pikes Peak Miners 16U and again while 8:29 into the third to make the score 4-0 Pikes Peak Miners 16U.

Detroit Falcons 16U's power play was ineffective against Pikes Peak Miners 16U's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Pikes Peak Miners 16U stifled Detroit Falcons 16U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Pikes Peak Miners 16U could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.
